Trithemis arteriosa (Burmeister,
1839), is a species of dragonfly in family Libellulidae. It is found in
Algeria, Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African
Republic, Chad, Comoros, Ivory Coast, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia,
Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, Liberia, Libya, Madagascar, Malawi,
Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Sierra
Leone, Somalia, South Africa, Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe,
and possibly Burundi.Recently it was recorded in Malta by a single specimen.
Its natural habitats are rivers, intermittent rivers, freshwater lakes,
intermittent freshwater lakes, freshwater marshes, and intermittent freshwater
marches.
IUCN Red List Category & Criteria
as Least Concern. Abundant and widespread across its range which includes
much of Africa, the Mediterranean area, and parts of the Middle East.
